| Highway 58, Closure & Evacuation Information | A wildfire is burning approximately 10km north of Highway 58. Garden River, John D'Or Prairie and Fox Lake are under evacuation order. Highway 58 is CLOSED at Range Road 112, approximately 15km east of Boyer. RCMP are restricting access to the area with the exception of water trucks and emergency personnel. Westbound Highway 58 remains open for evacuees leaving the area. Speed is reduced to 60 km/h due to poor visibility from smoke and dust. | Jasper National Park: Highway 16, Highway 93N & Highway 93A, Closure & Evacuation Information | Highway 16, Highway 93N & Highway 93A within Jasper National Park are CLOSED due to wildfire. Westbound motorists are advised to detour using Highway 40 North up through Grande Prairie or Highway 43. Eastbound and westbound motorists are able to travel via TransCanada Hwy1. Traffic on eastbound and westbound Highway 16 may EXIT ONLY. Highway 93 is CLOSED just north of the Saskatchewan River Crossing to Jasper. Traffic from Highway 93 N and Highway 11, west of Nordegg, to head south to Lake Louise. An Evacuation Order is in place at this time for Jasper National Park and Jasper townsite. | Environment Canada Rainfall warning in effect for northeast Alberta | Environment Canada Rainfall warning in effect for northeast Alberta. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms will continue today as they push northward. Although there will be quite a variation with thunderstorms, total rainfall amounts of 70 to 90 mm are likely. Local amounts may exceed 100 mm, particularly in areas that receive additional rainfall from embedded thunderstorms. Heavy rain will taper off by Saturday morning. For details: Environment Canada |
